* ATTENTION *

The Preble County Engineer’s office will be resurfacing Shields Road from Eaton Lewisburg Road to Lewisburg Western Road during our 2011 paving program. Before the road can be resurfaced the Engineer’s Office will be replacing several drainage tiles under the road in that area. The road will be closed daily as weather permits, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting June 20^th until all tiles have been replaced. There will be open cuts across the road so we will not be able to except any traffic during the daily closures, so please plan an alternative route. Thank you for your help and cooperation. If you have any questions please contact the Engineer’s office at the number below.

PUBLIC NOTICES

A PERMIT IS REQUIRED PRIOR TO DOING ANY TYPE OF WORK IN ROAD RIGHT OF WAY ALONG ANY TOWNSHIP OR COUNTY ROAD.

A WRITTEN PERMIT IS REQUIRED FOR ANY OF THE FOLLOWING TYPES OF WORK:

1. Any type of utility work including replacement of existing utility poles.

2. Any driveway installations for new driveways or for replacement of driveway pipe under an existing driveway. Minimum requirements for driveway pipes are:

A. Residential - 24’ x 12”

B. Agricultural - 40’ x 12”

C. Commercial - 40’ x 12”

3. The following materials are approved for driveway pipe.

A. Concrete

B. Corrugated Metal

C. Hi-Q Black Plastic (Double walled) With A Minimum Of 12” Of Cover

4. Placing tile to fill in a roadside ditch. Contact this office for details.

5. Installation or replacement of mailboxes. Contact this office for details.

6. Contact this office prior to placing fence or fence posts or any type of concrete or brick columns. They should not be in road right of way.

CONTACT THE ENGINEER’S OFFICE AT 937-456-4600 FOR INFORMATION ON GETTING A PERMIT APPLICATION. AN ENGINEER’S REPRESENTATIVE WILL EVALUATE THE PERMIT APPLICATION AND GIVE YOU INSTRUCTIONS ON THE PROPER INSTALLATION.

Dear Preble County Residents:

Due to budgetary restraints, the "Adopt A Highway" that has been operating within the county will be abandoned. I would like to thank all of the organizations that have participated in the "Adopt A Highway" litter program over the years. Although community response has dwindled over the last few years, the efforts to clean up each two mile stretch of highway that each group adopted was very much appreciated. Each group provided a valuable community service by picking up the debris along our Preble County roads and helping to keep our county a pleasant place to drive.
